IQ Option Review 2026: blocks, withdrawals and Brazil's CVM stop order

The oldest of the binary options platforms, with a European CySEC license — but barred by Brazil's securities regulator (CVM) from taking on Brazilian clients since 2020. See what changed (and what did not).

⚠ CVM stop order: In April 2020, the CVM ordered IQ Option to stop taking on Brazilian clients for binary options. The company kept promoting its services in the country even after that ruling, including through an affiliate program that pays up to 50% of the broker's profit per referral.

What works

  • A well-built in-house platform, with a smooth mobile app
  • Regulated by CySEC (Cyprus) — more than most of its competitors
  • More than 12 years in the market (since 2013)
  • Offers CFDs, Forex and stocks as well as binaries
  • Demo account with R$ 10,000 in virtual funds
  • 8.8/10 on Reclame Aqui (the company replies)

What is worrying

  • CVM stop order: taking on Brazilian clients has been irregular since 2020
  • High volume of complaints about accounts blocked after a profit
  • Reports of withdrawals stuck "in processing" for months
  • WikiFX gave it 1.49/10 for the excess of complaints
  • Support redirects to email and replies take up to 4 days
  • In-app chat was removed, making contact harder
  • The affiliate program encourages promotion built on flaunting wealth
  • Leverage of up to 1:1000 — extreme risk for retail

01Executive summary

IQ Option is the most veteran of the binary options platforms, launched in 2013 and operated by IQ Option Europe Ltd, licensed by CySEC in Cyprus. That gives it a real edge over its offshore competitors: there is a European regulator behind it.

That license, however, does not cover Brazil. The CVM issued a stop order in April 2020 requiring the company to stop taking on Brazilian clients — and IQ Option carried on. The platform's affiliate program, which pays up to 50% of the profit generated by referrals, fed a network of influencers promoting the platform with videos flaunting wealth and promises of fast gains.

The platform itself is well built and offers more products than just binaries (CFDs, Forex, stocks). But the volume of complaints about account blocks and withdrawal difficulties is significant and follows a worrying pattern.

02Regulation: CySEC yes, CVM no

IQ Option holds a CySEC license (the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission), number 247/14. That is more than most binary options platforms can claim — but it comes with important limitations for Brazilians:

The CySEC license does not apply to Brazilian clients. The Brazilian operation runs through an entity registered in Antigua and Barbuda, outside the European regulatory umbrella. In other words, if you are Brazilian and have a problem, you cannot turn to CySEC.

More important: the CVM ordered IQ Option to stop taking on Brazilian clients in 2020, but the platform put up no barrier to users from Brazil. Anyone with a CPF, Brazil's taxpayer ID, can still open an account and deposit.

The IQ Option paradox: It has European regulation (which should be a positive), but it operates irregularly in Brazil (which cancels out that protection for Brazilian clients). The CySEC license protects European clients — not you.

03Complaints: the pattern behind the blocks

IQ Option has one point in its favor on Reclame Aqui: it replies. Its score is 8.8/10, which looks good at first glance. But going through the individual reports reveals a recurring and worrying pattern:

Account blocked after a profit

The most reported scenario: the user deposits, trades normally, builds up a profit and requests a withdrawal. The account is then blocked for a "rule violation", without the platform specifying which rule was broken. There are reports of amounts withheld ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands of reais.

Withdrawals in indefinite processing

Another frequent pattern: the withdrawal is requested and sits in "processing" status for weeks or months. Support redirects people to email, where replies can take up to 4 days — or simply never arrive. One user reported waiting more than 4 months with no reply by email.

Removal of the in-app chat

IQ Option removed the chat option inside the app, leaving email as the only contact channel. For users with urgent withdrawal problems, that makes communication even harder.

The pattern seen in the reports: "While I was depositing and losing, everything worked normally. When I started making a profit and asking for withdrawals, the problems began." — That sentence, with variations, appears in dozens of public complaints on Reclame Aqui.

04Platform and products

Objectively, IQ Option's platform is good from a technical standpoint. The user experience, interface and performance are praised by most users:

Products
Binaries, CFDs, Forex, stocks
Platform
Web + app in-house
Minimum deposit
R$ 50
Leverage
up to 1:1000

The leverage of up to 1:1000 deserves attention: it is an extreme double-edged sword. European regulators cap retail leverage at 1:30 precisely because of the risks — IQ Option offers 33x more to clients outside Europe.

05Minimum deposit, methods and how to start (2026)

IQ Option keeps a low cost of entry, similar to its competitors, but with one difference: because it holds a CySEC license, it comes with a protection framework the offshore binary platforms do not offer.

Minimum deposit
US$ 10 ~R$ 50
Minimum trade
US$ 1
Demo account
US$ 10,000 free

Deposit methods: Visa/Mastercard cards, e-wallets (Skrill, Neteller), cryptocurrencies and, in Brazil, Pix (Brazil's instant payment system) via payment partners. Deposits are usually instant; the friction, when it shows up, is in the verification for withdrawal.

06The IQ Option app and platform

IQ Option's platform is often pointed to as one of the most complete in the segment, with a native app for Android and iOS and a web/desktop version. Highlights:

The platform's technical quality is real and widely recognized. Even so, the binary and digital options side carries the same unfavorable math as any binary product — and the offering to Brazilians remains irregular in the eyes of the CVM.

07Withdrawals: timelines, verification and the CySEC difference

Here is the main difference between IQ Option and Binomo, Quotex and Pocket Option: the license CySEC imposes withdrawal rules and provides a formal complaints channel.

  1. One-off KYC verification — once your ID and proof of address are approved, later withdrawals are released.
  2. Withdrawal through the same method as the deposit — e-wallets come through faster than cards.
  3. A typical time of 1 to 3 business days for verified accounts.

In a dispute, accounts under the CySEC entity can turn to the regulator's resolution mechanism — something that does not exist on platforms registered in offshore havens. The caveat: Brazilian users often trade under the international entity (not CySEC), and there the protection is weaker. Check which entity your account was opened under.

08The affiliate problem

IQ Option runs an aggressive affiliate program, paying up to 50% of the broker's profit on each referred client. In practice, that created an ecosystem of influencers promoting the platform with videos full of flaunted wealth — cars, trips, promises of an "infallible method".

The incentive is clear: the more the referred user loses, the more the affiliate earns. That creates a fundamental conflict of interest that undermines any "analysis" produced by the platform's affiliates.

10Income tax

Under Brazilian rules, profits on IQ Option must be declared as capital gains in foreign currency (a monthly DARF, Brazil's tax payment form, code 4600, at a 15% rate). IQ Option operates in dollars, so the exchange rate on the day of the trade has to be taken into account. Failing to comply generates fines, interest and possible scrutiny from Brazil's tax authority.

11Who it is for (and who it is not for)

You might consider it if:

  • You want to use CFDs/Forex (not binaries) with an accessible platform
  • You accept that CySEC regulation does not cover Brazilians
  • You trade amounts you can afford to lose entirely
  • You will use the demo account to learn before risking money

Avoid it if:

  • You want real regulatory protection for your capital
  • You are looking for consistent income from binary options
  • You were talked into it by an influencer or affiliate
  • You intend to trade with high leverage without experience

12Frequently asked questions

Is IQ Option legal in Brazil?

The CVM issued a stop order in 2020 barring the company from taking on Brazilian clients. Trading as an individual is not a crime, but the offering is considered irregular. CySEC does not protect Brazilian clients.

Why was my account blocked?

IQ Option claims a "rule violation" as its standard justification. In public reports, the block happens predominantly after the user builds up a profit and requests a withdrawal of a significant amount.

Is IQ Option better than Quotex?

It has more time in the market and a CySEC license (which does not apply to Brazil). It replies to complaints on Reclame Aqui. But the pattern of withdrawal and blocking problems is similar. Neither of the two is ideal for anyone looking for regulatory safety.

Can I use only the CFDs and Forex, without binaries?

Yes, IQ Option offers CFDs and Forex. However, the CVM stop order applies to all of the company's products for Brazilians, and the reported withdrawal problems affect every product.

What is IQ Option's minimum deposit?

The minimum deposit is around US$ 10 (~R$ 50) and the minimum trade is US$ 1. There is a free demo account with US$ 10,000 in virtual funds. Methods include cards, e-wallets, crypto and Pix via partners.

How long does a withdrawal take on IQ Option?

For verified accounts, the typical time is 1 to 3 business days, with e-wallets coming through faster than cards. Accounts under the CySEC entity have firmer withdrawal rules and a formal dispute channel.

Is IQ Option better than Binomo and Pocket Option?

On protection, yes: IQ Option has a CySEC license (depending on the entity your account sits under), while Binomo, Quotex and Pocket Option operate only in offshore jurisdictions with no real supervision. Even so, binary options remain high risk and irregular in the eyes of the CVM in Brazil.

Want Forex with regulation that actually works?

Regulated brokers offer the same markets with real protection, stop losses and reliable withdrawals.
